The N-1000-II Panel
The N-1000-II Panel will support 2 readers, 2 keypads or 2 combination keypad/readers, 4 relay outputs (DPDT), and will monitor 16 alarm points. The standard memory on the panel will hold up to 3800 card numbers and will buffer up to 1850 transactions. If you need more readers and/or alarm points, simply daisy-chain the panels together. Northern will support up to 63 panels, tied together in one loop, allowing you to open 126 doors and monitor 1008 alarm points on that loop. On 2 loops a total of 252 doors and 2016 alarm points are possible with PC-PAK version 4.5 or higher.
The N-1000-II-X is the same as the N-1000-II except there are 8 relay outputs and expanded memory, which allows you to store up to 9,900 cards and buffer up to 5000 transactions.
RS-485
High-speed data transmission between computer system components and peripherals over long distances and under noisy conditions is usually very difficult with single ended drivers and recievers. RS-485 is a balanced (differential) digital transmission interface developed to incorporate and improve upon the advantages of current-loop interface and improve upon RS-232 limitations. RS-485 allows increased line length (up to 4000'), and is less sensitive to electrical noise interference.
The N-485-PCI and N-485-API are used to interface the existing N-1000-II/N-800 system to an RS-485 multi-drop network. The N-485-PCI and N-485-API allow each N-10000II/N-800 control panel to operate as if it were the only panel in the communication loop. Up to 31 N-1000-II/N-800 control panels are allowed per RS-485 multi-drop line. The multi-drop line works independently from the existing system and all RS-485 communications are verified. The baud rate of the RS-485 multi-drop loop is 38,400.
Panel Layout
All of the panels have the same board layout and are connected the same way. The panel can be broken down into 3 different areas: input connections, decision making components, and output connections.
PC-EXP System Configuration
The PC-EXP is a microprocessor-based unit that allows interface from a personal computer (running PC-PAK software) to up to three N-1000-II/N-800 communication loops. During operation, the PC-EXP sends and receives operational data to and from both the computer and the field control panels. The unit performs loop verification and monitors the connection between itself and the personal computer. Upon loss of communication from the personal computer, the PC-EXP puts all panels in the buffered mode.
System Specifications
The control panels shall operate on a fully distributed database with a minimum of 63 time zones per controller. All the valid card numbers, time zones, relay pulse times, and alarm point shunt times are loaded into the controller's memory. The panel will control access to multiple buildings on a stand-alone basis with no dependency on a central computer system. The system shall be expandable to support up to 126 doors on each communication port with 20ma communications. The system shall be distributed so no more than 2 card readers or keypads are controlled by a given controller thereby providing maximum reliability. The panel shall read up to 8 different types of card formats simultaneously ranging from 20 to 40 bits. Each panel shall provide a minimum of 4 DPDT relays, expandable to 8. Relays are form C contacts rated up to 24 V max, 30 VA. Alarm inputs may be automatically shunted for different time periods during the week. All holiday schedules must be included in panel database. Control panel shall support a minimum of 9900 card holders and buffer up to 5000 transactions.
